Athletic Therapy: Exam Information

CATA Examination: Theory / Practical

Once candidates have completed all 1200 internship hours, hold a valid CPR and First Responder certificate and have the written support of their supervisor, they are eligible to write a four hour comprehensive exam. A minimum score of 70% is required to pass.

The Practical exam is a three hour exam divided into two stations (Clinic / Field) which assess proficiency in the following areas:

  1. Assessment Techniques
  2. Rehabilitation Principles
  3. Therapeutic Modalities
  4. Taping Techniques
  5. Emergency Care

Successful candidates earn the right to the title of Certified Athletic Therapist (Canada) CAT(C).
